Japanese Meat and Potato Stew Nikujaga

Nikujaga – a common dish in Japanese family meals. The dish consists of pork stew with potatoes, carrots, and onions in Sukiyaki sauce from Dashi Lab. The dish is simple but novel, the sweetness of meat is mixed with vegetables and sweet soy sauce, making this a great choice for your family dinner tonight.

Ingredients

(For 3 people)

  • Green beens         5g
  • Carrots         100g
  • Potato      150g
  • Onion       150g
  • Konjac noodles         80g
  • Pork       150g
  • Dashi Lab’s Sukiyaki Sauce   100g
  • Water          300g
  • Cooking Oil          1 table spoon

STEPS

  1. Carrots and potatoes cut into bite-sized pieces. Sliced the onions.
  2. Boil green beens until cooked.
  3. Blanch Konjac noodles in hot water, drain well
  4. Put the cooking oil in the pot, then add the carrots, potatoes, and onions in turn, then stir-fry the pork until the meat is firm.
  5. Add Sukiyaki sauce and 300ml of water to the pot, bring to a boil, skim off the foam.
  6. Bring Konjac noodles to a boil, cover with ailuminum foil, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Place the dish on a plate, garnish with boiled green beans and enjoy

Tips

  • Konjac noodles: You should blanch konjac noodles in boiling water and drain to remove the smell of konjac.
  • Boil the green beans with a little salt to keep the green color of the green beans.
  • Using a aluminum foil as a lid putting close to the ingredients will help prevent the carrots and potatoes from breaking while stewing.
